More Sponsor News!
I saw another message today from Andrew (Pirate Race Productions team manager). We've officially been sponsored by Magura, Syntace and Uvex. I'd love to get my grimy hands onto some of these or this But first, I must rid my basement of one of my bikes. The Karate Monkey must be sold!

Another Good Stokes/Surry Ride
I just got in from another great City Loop Mafia ride. 8 CLM members showed up for the ride on parts of the Three Mountain Madness. Everyone was riding very strong. A majority of the climbing comes in the first half of our route and we were mustering an 18.5 mph average. At about the halfway point, we were at Sauratown Mountain.
A few of the guys taking off up Sauratown

Mitch, Sirena, and myself opted not to climb it since everyone was pushing such a quick pace. We hung out for a bit, then decided to strike out on our own, but stick to the route.
Sirena is always smiling, so happy!

Judging by Mitch's face here, there must be some whiskey sour in his bottle...

We met these two cool dogs at Old Mill and decided to stop and wait up for everyone.

Once we regrouped, we changed the route a bit, and headed back to the cars. The pack broke up a bit on Old 52 since we all knew we were within striking distance of the cars. Erich took off up the last climb with myself, Rob, and Duane right on his wheel. Right about at the top of the climb, I blew up and let Rob and Duane pass. These three are ridiculously strong, even after climbing Suaratown, they were still throwing down, climbing a decent grade at about 23-25mph. Craziness!

Exciting News!
I got an interesting e-mail today while at school. I submitted my race resume (albeit a rather unimpressive season) to a few different teams over the last two weeks and heard back from one of them today. I'm happy to announce that next year I will be racing for team Pirate Race Productions. Details of what companies will be sponsoring us for the upcoming year have yet to be hashed out, but needless to say, I am excited at the prospects that are being talked about...Pirate Race Productions
Oh, and just for the heck of it, a cool pic that Mitch posted over on the CLM blog

City Loop!
Pre-ride silliness and banter

Erich, Scott, Mitch, Curtis, myself, and guest rider Charlie hit up a city loop this afternoon. The weather was UNBELIEVEABLY nice, think mid 70's and sunny. Awesome November day.
Evidence of the beautiful day

The loop was modified to include some alternate roads. We rolled through downtown and Old Salem.
Scott cheesing it up Downtown

Refilling bottles in Old Salem

Along the way we had a guy at the gas station ask us if we were going to France...apparently the kits look pro enough to fool unsuspecting onlookers. After downtown, we wanted to stop by Mafia member Camerons house, but to no avail...his truck wasn't in the drive. We continued on our loop and onto Country Club where the pace always quickens. Fun ensued back to the elementary school where we meet!
Another great day on the bike!

Mountainview Ride!
CLM members Erich, Scott, Curtis, and myself (Barry) had a good ride today. We all met in the cold this morning at my place and headed out through King towards Hanging Rock. We looped around and ended up in the neighborhood of Pilot Mountain. After taking in some good views, we started in the direction of my house. A great ride, Curtis, Erich and Scott were all looking strong today!
My GPS got a little screwed up a couple of times, but the ride was about 45 miles, with about 3600 feet of climbing. Definitely a good ride, much fun was had by all. I suffered entirely too much towards the end of the ride, due, no doubt, to the fact that I've only been riding my mountain bike over the past month.
