Rain Ride

Curtis and I were able to get out to Dark Mountain and the OVT for a few hours today. We had planned on doing Dark Mountain, OVT, then add on Warrior's Creek. By the time we had done the first two, made it to the end of the OVT the skies opened up on us, and started dumping rain. The ride went from being unbeleiveably fun to subpar in about a millisecond. We stopped at the end grabbed some food and noticed that the rear tire on Curtis' bike was running low, filled it up with a CO2. Out of CO2, front tire sitting at about 10psi...not good. Nope, didn't have my mini pump as a backup...very not good. We decide to take it easy back to the car, just limp it back. We got started on the OVT, and it rained harder. I couldn't see much with my glasses being soaked, and Curtis was having issues on every corner with such low pressure. At the first intersection, we hopped off of the OVT and rode back on 268. By this point we were absolutely soaked and covered in basically wet dust (it wasn't really mud, just the consistency of wet sandpaper). We got back to the Visitor's Center and got cleaned up. Mexican was the cuisine choice of the day, nice post ride meal!
